TUSPE EVIPNet Trans Fats Elimination Project in Turkey
Who Europe EVIPNet titled "Reducing Trans Fat Consumption in Turkey and Its Negative Effects on Health" carried out in cooperation with the WHO European Region, Who Turkey Office and TÜSEB Turkish Heald Policies Institute (TÜSPE) at the meeting on reducing the use of trans fats held by the Presidency Health and Food Policiy Board. A presentation was made about the project.
Within the scope of the WHO Europe EVIPNet Project, which was initiated with the recommendation of the Presidential Health and Food Policy Board and carried out by the World Health Organization and Turkish Health Policies Institute of TUSEB, the policy document on the elimination of trans fats in Turkey, which is being prepared in line with the WHO's "Trans Fat Free 2023" target, is expected to be announced in March 2020. The report is the first evidence-based policy document on trans fat among WHO countries.
The meeing where academicians, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Foresty, the World Health Organization Turkey Office, The Turkish Cardiology Association (TKD), TÜSEB Turkish Health Policies Institute (TÜSPE), Ankara City Hospital Cardiology Clinic, Yes to Health Association and the Association of Kitchen Products and Margarine Industrialists (MUMSAD) attended was widely covered in the national press.
