President of the Türkiye Health Policies Institute Attended the 6th Global Congress on Behavioral Addictions
The 6th Global Congress on Behavioral Addictions, jointly organized by the Turkish Green Crescent Society and the Ministry of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye, was held in Istanbul on May 13–14, 2025. The event brought together numerous researchers, academics, and representatives from institutions and organizations at both national and international levels to discuss the latest developments in combating behavioral addictions.
Opening speeches were delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Dinç, President of the Turkish Green Crescent Society; Prof. Dr. Mücahit Öztürk, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Turkish Green Crescent Society; Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye; and Dr. Cevdet Yılmaz, Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye and President of the High Council for the Fight against Addiction.
Following the opening session, the congress featured a series of panels and presentations focused on current risks and evidence-based strategies in areas such as problematic digital gaming, gambling, pornography use, social media use, and other types of behavioral addictions. These topics were examined within the framework of six main themes.
Prof. Dr. Işıl Maral, President of the Türkiye Health Policies Institute, attended the congress. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Şaziye Senem Başgül and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Merih Altıntaş—members of the Türkiye Health Policies Institute’s Commission on Combating Addiction—contributed to the congress as session chairs.
