Development of the Turkish Value Set for the EQ-5D-5L Quality of Life Scale

Objective

The primary objective of this project is to develop a quality of life value set that reflects the health preferences of Turkish society, has high scientific validity, and is specific to the local context. The value set to be developed will serve as an important reference tool for use at the national level in health technology assessments, cost-effectiveness analyses, and health policy decision-making processes.

Scope

Within the scope of the project, data representative of Türkiye will be collected using the EQ-5D-5L quality of life measurement tool as a basis. These data, aimed at assessing health preferences, will be obtained through surveys conducted nationwide. The findings will be integrated into the EQ-5D-5L model to create a value set specific to Türkiye.

Expected Outcomes

  • Development of Türkiye's first official health status value set based on EQ-5D-5L
  • Obtaining scores appropriate to local, cultural and ethical sensitivities in health-related quality of life assessments
  • Create a reference point for health service planning, resource allocation and reimbursement decisions to be based on evidence-based and community-based criteria
  • Improving the usability of Türkiye's EQ-5D data infrastructure in international comparisons
  • Integrating Türkiye into the international EQ-5D value set network by establishing co-operation with EuroQol

This project was introduced with the aim of strengthening evidence-based decision-making processes in the fields of health economics and health policy. This study, which aims to increase Türkiye's health-related quality of life assessment capacity, is being designed in line with national and international health assessment frameworks.
